About the Author
Yung Wing, who was born in a village in southern China in 1828 and became the first Chinese person ever to be educated at a major US college, graduating from Yale in 1854. He returned to China and visited the Taiping rebel capital of Nanjing, giving active consideration to helping them in their struggle to overthrow the Manchu government. He was a part of the missionary Christian community of the United States, and a great believer in the strengths and benefits of Western civilization, but also fiercely patriotic and proud of being Chinese.

A fascinating autobiography of China's first U.S. college graduate

Yung Wing's book is a tale of an educated, bilingual Chinese patriot who loved China and his American Christian values. He was a rare product of a China in decline and an America on the rise. He wrote fondly of his missionary benefactors and his discovery of his talent in the English language. He parlayed his linguistic talent to try to change China -- a feat that struck many of his 19th-century peers as futile and foolhardy. Yet his lifelong obsession to give a Western education to young Chinese eventually bore fruits, if only 150 years later. Yung Wing would be gratified to know that China now sends more students to America than any other country, graduates more Ph.D. students than any, and publishes 11 percent of the world's scientific papers. my highest respect to Yung Wing

This is the historical book about recent China interested me most till now. This is a book about the stories of the author Yung Wing his own. Yung Wing is famous, who is called the father of all Chinese students studied aboard. This book is extremely valuable for us all to get some knowledge about the recent history of China. In this book, we can meet with some very famous characters, such as Zeng Guofan, Li Hongzhang, Zhang Zhidong, Hua Henfang, Mark Twain, and so on, whom did Yung Wing have a lot of private stories talked about. In a word, through the presentation of this book talked about Yung Wing himself, I think everyone of us as a Chinese should give high respect to Yung Wing for what he had done for all of us and for the strength of our mother country China. Finally I would like recommend this wonderful book to every Chinese who loves their country.

Very impressed Read

This is quite a surprise book for me. But I am very glad I have read it. The history of eighteen century China has always been quite remote and impersonal. But this book, narrated from a western-educated yet deeply involved Chinese perspective, gives me a sense of time-travelling. The lives of Chinese and the society of China during that period become live and real. It helps to understand historical events as well as the human mentalities first handed. I am very impressed by this book and would strongly recommend it to anybody who is into the Chinese history.

I have been eyeing this Erotic (BDSM) series for awhile, but I was apprehensive that it was just going to pages upon pages of sex with no storyline. Surprisingly, on the contrary, the Billionaire's Son series very much has a storyline - it's centered around a mystery. There are secrets, hidden agendas, powerful men in clandestine sex clubs, orgies, money laundering, add to that scorching sex scenes with a hot alpha male...

This series consists of 8 parts/novellas that combined make up a 70,000 word read. Series is complete, all set to be read. Book/part 1 is currently FREE on Amazon US.

Julia Collins (forensic accountant/32 years/brown hair) is hired by a Billionaire to perform some top secret forensic accounting. Due to the nature of the job she works at his mansion. There she comes in contact with his only son, Derek Vaughn (30's/businessman-playboy/$$$/black hair/grey eyes). At first glance Derek comes across as a jaded, spoiled and even arrogant alpha male, but as the book progresses you will see some more layers to him. I really enjoyed him. Excellent series, But, 1. When are the next installments coming out? 2.And how many are they? I really really like these characters but 'm dying to finf out what is happening with them. I'm on socil Security, get paid once a month so I have to save in order to purchase these books. So hurry up and publish the rest.

This series is by far the best I have read. The way Herrick and Julia respond to one another is just crazy. I can't wait to see what happens next. I am on pins and needles waiting for the next installment!!!!! Please hurry with the next one because I don't think I can wait much longer!

A Primer on Intelligence Tradecraft

This book should be added to any serious reader's espionage bookshelf. It is not a memoir, per se, but a readable study in what motivates people to spy for the United States, and how the CIA's operations officers get them to do it. It is illustrated with stories from Crumpton's career and those of his friends an colleagues. It is entertaining, funny, illuminating, and educational.

Some previously un- or under-told stories include: 1) how the Predator program was created because of the determination of enterprising young operations officers and military details 2) how CIA's National Resources division quietly does its work in the domestic theater, with the help of patriots in the private sector and 3) the critical role of liaison with foreign intelligence services and how that works.

The best part of this book is that it not only describes how operations officers do their work, but how analysts, technicians, support staff, all work together to provide the best intelligence they can for the country. Whether policymakers use it or not is another matter, addressed in this book in a factual, non-strident way.

It is a fast read. Crumpton's writing style is simple, direct and clear and you have no questions about where he stands on matters of opinion.

This book was an education

I have been an active citizen and lawyer for 40 years, and I have always wondered what a spy does, how the CIA operates in and outside the US, and what is the interplay between the CIA and politicos. This book went a long way to explain much of that. While reading this book, I was consistently surprised how the book offers clear and insightful education to an average citizen like myself, and, yet, will probably be a textbook in spy training for years. Do I agree with everything Crumpton believes? No. Am I grateful Crumpton lays out his experiences and views? Absolutely.

A Decent look into the World of Deception

An overall decent read into the life of Clandestine Service. For thrill seekers, there may be some disappointment as the story is more about one man's journey as opposed to campfire tales of black ops. To be sure, there are descriptive events and true story anecdotes. But intelligence and the politics around them are not always sexy, but the book is informative and gives solid perspective to the day and the life of one man who was in the midst and the history of the world surrounding him during that time.
